 pop tart
What you need:

  • 1 sheet pastry dough (thawed)
  • Strawberry jam
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 drop red food colouring
  • Sprinkles
  • Heart shaped cookie cutter

To make…

Lay out pastry dough on a pan (I put down tinfoil and sprayed it first with cooking spray to avoid it sticking).

Use the cookie cutter to form heart shaped in the dough. Remove access dough to leave just the hearts.

Scoop strawberry jam (approx 1 tbsp) onto half of the heart cut outs.

Place another heart on top, sandwiching the jam between the two, and use a fork to press and seal the edges.

Use the beaten egg as a wash to coat the tops of the dough. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until golden and crispy.

While they cool, make the icing by combining the milk, icing sugar, food colouring, and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add more icing sugar if needed to achieve desired thickness.

Once the pop tarts are cooled completely, brush on icing and top with sprinkles.
