Smashed Potatoes

Yup, you read that right – smashed, not mashed. These 2-bite potatoes are easy and fun to make!

  
I used Yukon Gold baby potatoes, olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and American saffron (you could also use some sumac) to add a little flavour.

Start by cleaning and boiling your potatoes with the skin on. You want them to be nice and soft so they are easy to smash! Also, preheat your oven to a high temperature – 200 degrees Celsius or higher – depending on your oven you could use the grill or roast setting.

Prep a baking tray with olive oil. Once the potatoes are cooked through spread them out on the tray and smash them down with the back of a wide spoon or flat serving utensil like a cake lift. Be careful not to smoosh them too much or they won’t maintain their shape and then you might as well mash them! Season generously and pop them in the oven. Watch them closely so they don’t burn. You want the outer edges to be golden brown and crispy like a french fry. Take them out and serve with your favourite condiment. I love sour cream!
